Hands up for the Dyson Airblade™ - Dyson’s story
You wouldn’t normally think of a hand-dryer as an obvious candidate for a Carbon Reduction Label. But if you knew anything about inventor James Dyson and his team, you’d know it had to be a Dyson that blew away our expectations.
Unlike conventional hand dryers, The Dyson Airblade™ doesn’t require a power-hungry heating element to work, making it 80% more energy efficient. It also avoids paper towel waste in landfills. Powered by the Dyson digital motor, the Dyson Airblade™ hand dryer blasts cold air at 400 mph, literally scraping water from hands in 10 seconds.
Dyson came to us determined to make his model environmentally friendly. How could we help? We provided him with advice and data analysis using our Footprint Expert™ software. The end result? The Dyson Airblade™ hand dryer was certified by the Carbon Trust Footprinting Certification Company; it is in fact the first hand dryer awarded the Carbon Reduction Label. As part of the certification, Dyson has committed to further reducing the machine’s carbon emissions over the next two years. We’re sure they will deliver and inspire other companies along the way.
