The launch of the Green Investment Bank Commission report on 29th June 2010 has generated ongoing media discussion about how to finance the move to a low carbon economy, and on the potential relationship between any Green Investment Bank and the Carbon Trust.

Sainsbury's press release: Carbon Trust certified measure for dairies

A first for farming, Sainsbury's today announces that it is the first retailer to launch a unique scheme which will help dairy farmers measure their carbon footprint and aim to reduce greenhouse gases by up to 10%.

The scheme, which is the first carbon footprinting model in agriculture to be certified by the Carbon Trust will increase farm efficiency, and provide greater profits for hundreds of farmers.

Tesco and the Carbon Trust join forces to drive forward carbon labelling

Tesco puts Carbon Trust Carbon Reduction Label on 20 products in Tesco stores.

Tesco today unveiled a range of 20 products which will carry the Carbon Trust's Carbon Reduction Label. These will be across four different categories - orange juice, washing detergent, light bulbs and potatoes - enabling shoppers to compare the carbon impact of like-for-like products for the first time.

7 new companies commit to carbon count their products

20 companies are now working with Carbon Trust to pilot product carbon footprinting Standard.

The Carbon Trust today announced that 7 leading companies will make up the third wave of new partners to trial the draft Publicly Available Specification (PAS) 2050, the standard for assessing the lifecycle greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions of goods and services, currently being developed in partnership with Defra and BSI British Standards.

Tesco and the Carbon Trust map carbon footprint of 30 products

Tesco and the Carbon Trust are to measure the carbon footprint of 30 Tesco own-brand products in the next stage of the journey towards a clear, universal system of carbon labelling for the weekly shop.

Ranging from orange juice to light bulbs, the products will be assessed using the draft standard currently being developed by the Carbon Trust, Defra and BSI British Standards to measure the embodied greenhouse gas emissions from products and services.
