Green Investment Bank Commission: statement from Euan Murray, General Manager of the Carbon Trust Footprinting Company
The launch of the Green Investment Bank Commission report on 29th June 2010 has generated ongoing media discussion about how to finance the move to a low carbon economy, and on the potential relationship between any Green Investment Bank and the Carbon Trust.

Tate & Lyle reduces its footprint with the Carbon Trust
Tate & Lyle has announced today that the carbon footprint of its retail cane sugar is 380 grams of CO2 per 1 kilogram bag. Tate & Lyle sugar will carry the Carbon Reduction Label later in the year.
A 12 month project, using the PAS 2050 methodology and the Carbon Trust's Footprint Expert tool, measured the carbon footprint for Tate & Lyle's UK cane sugar refining business from the sugar cane field, to supermarket shelf, to consumer consumption and waste disposal. The project also calculated the carbon footprint of bulk granulated sugar for supply to industrial customers at 300 grammes CO2 per 1kg.
Kingsmill becomes first bread brand to put carbon labels on loaves
Family bread brand Kingsmill is the first bread manufacturer in the UK to use the Carbon Trust's Carbon Reduction Label. Kingsmill's Great Everyday White, Tasty Wholemeal and 50/50 sub-brands will carry the Carbon Reduction Label in stores from the end of June, demonstrating the brand's commitment to reducing its carbon footprint with the Carbon Trust.
"High Street Failing on Footprinting", say consumers
Research out today from the Carbon Trust reveals almost two thirds of consumers (63%) are more likely to buy a product if they know action is being taken to reduce its carbon footprint. At the same time, 70% of consumers want businesses to do more to help them make more informed environmental choices about the products they buy.
Mey Selections becomes first Scottish consumer goods company to put carbon labels on products
Mey Selections, the Caithness based food brand, is the first consumer goods company in Scotland to be certified with the Carbon Trust's Carbon Reduction Label. Mey Selections Luxury Shortbread and two Honey products will carry the Carbon Reduction Label in stores from 1 May, demonstrating the company's work to measure and, crucially, its commitment to reduce its carbon footprint over the next two years.
