Green Investment Bank Commission: statement from Euan Murray, General Manager of the Carbon Trust Footprinting Company

The launch of the Green Investment Bank Commission report on 29th June 2010 has generated ongoing media discussion about how to finance the move to a low carbon economy, and on the potential relationship between any Green Investment Bank and the Carbon Trust.

First hand dryer awarded for committing to reduce carbon emissions

The Dyson Airblade™ hand dryer is the first hand dryer to be awarded the Carbon Reduction Label from the Carbon Trust. To secure the Carbon Reduction Label, the machine's total carbon footprint – the amount of carbon emissions (CO2 and other greenhouse gases) produced from its materials and manufacture, transport, in-use and end of life - were measured and certified by the Carbon Trust. As part of the certification, Dyson has committed to reducing the Airblade™ hand dryer's carbon emissions further in the next two years.

A 'low-carbon' Christmas Carol

Our personal carbon footprints will go up by at least 6% over Christmas, thanks to all that extra shopping, eating and drinking, say the experts at the Carbon Trust. But worry not, they have also given us six easy ways to cut our carbon impact with small, simple changes that we can make at home to be kind to the climate as well each other over the festive season, including choosing everyday products that carry the Carbon Reduction Label.

UK manufacturer underlines its ongoing commitment to reducing emissions

British Sugar, with its sister company Silver Spoon, today became the first sugar business to certify the carbon footprint of its granulated sugar using the new PAS 2050 method. In February 2008, British Sugar was confirmed as a pilot partner to support the development of PAS 2050, the world's first method for assessing the lifecycle greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions of goods and services, developed by BSI British Standards and sponsored by the Carbon Trust and the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.

Quaker becomes the first cereal brand to make reduction commitment through Carbon Reduction Label

In September 2009, the Carbon Trust Carbon Reduction Label will begin to appear on packs of Quaker Oats, and Oatso Simple, making Quaker, part of PepsiCo, the first cereal brand to carry the on-pack carbon reduction commitment.
